Tipping the Dealer
Just like the housekeeping staff who cleans your room, casino dealers are part of the Service Industry. Although their service is different than a waitress, they do rely on tips for a portion of their income. Tipping a waitress is done by a percentage of what you ordered, but the dealer is somewhat different.
He delivers, or deals, the game to you and everyone expects courtesy and a smile, like the waitress, and the game plays on with little trouble. They also give you change and take your money when you lose. If you are one of those who are losing at the game, the dealer will try to easy your pain and stay friendly. Those people who win are likely to leave a tip just because of their win but losers will just walk away.
You can tip by directly handing it to the dealer, or you can put a chip next to yours on the layout. Some players at blackjack tables will tip once an hour but in the end it is up to you as to whether you tip or not. Everyone has their own rules for this situation, just do what feels right.
