The Color of Chips
So many people sit at a gaming table unaware of the limit for that table which is clearly marked on a sign. This can be an embarrassing situation but these people just don’t take the time to read or to even notice the color. Many casinos do color code their signs to match the minimum bet for each table and in case you don’t know what the color are, here is a list.
The blue or white chips represent one dollar, reds are five dollars and known as nickles. Twenty five dollars is the green chips and also known as quarters with black chips being one hundred dollars. The five hundred dollar chips are purple and sometimes called Barneys and then you have the orange chips, called pumpkins, and they represent one thousand dollars.
Although some casinos can differ, you are safe in knowing the red and green are always the standards. These colors make those behind the viewing camera easier to keep track of what is going on and the dealers as well can count faster with colors. Next time, look for the color signs on the tables and don’t embarrass yourself.
