Saving Atlantic City
Just recently, Delaware and Pennsylvania introduced table games to their casinos so the boardwalk now has more competition. This is only one of Atlantic city’s dilemmas with the thought of those gamblers from Washington D.C. might forgo the longer trip to New Jersey and just head to Delaware and the racetracks.
A gaming analyst feels a 15 percent drop in revenue will be the outcome of the new competition. There are some ideas going around as to way to save Atlantic City. One idea is to glamorize the Boardwalk as it is the feature most well known but this wooden path that runs between the ocean and the casinos also has massage joints, cheap t-shirt stores and palm readers of all kinds. The idea is to use those spaces for something better.
Upgrading the rail service is another idea. Some bus routes only run Friday through Sunday from Penn Station so what is needed is better service from New York. Advertising in another angle. Las Vegas has commercials all the time so if more people were introduced to Atlantic City as a fun place to visit, they would probably go.
