Blackjack and I
Since I was a child I’ve been a sucker for gambling. Not in a compulsive sort of way, but ever since I can remember that world has fascinated me to a degree that very little stuff has been able to. Maybe it was the movies or the books that showed the more glamorous side of the game, or maybe it was just one of those kid things that you really can’t explain, but the world of gambling was always my calling. Not exactly sports betting, but casino games – poker and blackjack especially. Never been much of a roulette man, much less slot machines.
I remember organizing special casino nights with my friends, we’d each get a certain number of currency, be it beans or my dad’s poker chips, and we’d have fun role-playing. As I got older, I discovered the world of online gambling. Maybe I didn’t have the proper dress code to gamble in a casino, being a University student living off coffee and ramen noodles, but I had enough quality to make a little bit of extra money off internet gambling.
And while everyone was focusing on poker games, I was going for Blackjack games. It’s always been my game of election; it just feels better to me being me against the house instead of trying to nick money off other players. And that’s what I specialized on and, honestly, I feel there’s more money in it than in poker, where the games are flooded by know-it-all players making safe moves they learned off a book.
